Outer Banks, NC

Outer Banks was our favorite ocean getaway.* Tourist-oriented, but not overcrowded in off-seasons (September and October, for example). Along this NC peninsula, one can visit and enjoy sand dunes, bay areas, Roanoke Island, and many beachfront small towns such as Nags Head. There are numerous motels, restaurants, and local shopping areas in each town. *Now living on Lake Huron, no need to travel such a distance to a NC beach. Future winter vacations will be focused on airline trips to tropical destinations. |

Southern City CharmOur visit was delightful. A charming town encompassing meticulous gardens with tropical plants, Southern architecture, shopping, and history. A very photogenic city, see above link for travel information and more photos. |
