Purchased direct from Apple (use prepaid T-Mobile cell phone plan), it's a nice upgrade from previous models. Weight and size are similar to my previous iPhone 14 Pro. The Apple case is sturdy and protective (hopefully it won't be dropped), replacing my Otterbox case previously used on prior phones. Apple claims the phone is water-resistant, so that's good news for those who brave the elements for digital photography. The setup process was relatively straightforward (just follow the onscreen directions), albeit time-consuming as it required uploading of apps from my retired phone. Even transferring the e-sim for prepaid cell phone service was automatic.
Camera Features:
The "fusion camera" is great! It does involve a learning curve due to the newly-added features. Take crisp and clear 24 MP photos (1x only) with the upgrade.

The 5x (optical) zoom is handy for capturing distant objects like birds in trees.. Maximum zoom is 25x (digital), although at that magnification you can expect the typical "noise." What is the difference? Optical zoom uses the physical lens of a camera to magnify an image by adjusting its focal length, preserving image quality; while digital zoom enlarges an image digitally after it's captured, often leading to a loss of detail and quality by cropping and interpolating pixels within the image.

Here's a Phishing Scam I just became aware I had in my e-mail client--"Words Trivia".
*A "Words Trivia" email virus refers to a phishing scam where an email appears to be a fun trivia quiz about words, but clicking on the link or opening an attachment within the email actually installs malware on your computer, designed to steal personal information or gain access to your system.
Key points about "Words Trivia" email viruses:
- Deceptive appearance: The email will often look like a legitimate trivia game with interesting word questions, aiming to lure the user into clicking on the malicious link.
- Hidden malicious intent: Once clicked, the link may redirect to a website that automatically downloads malware onto the user's device without their knowledge.
- Data theft: The goal of the virus could be to steal sensitive information like passwords, credit card details, or personal data.
- Suspicious sender address: Check if the email address looks unfamiliar or doesn't match a known "Words Trivia" source.
- Urgency or pressure tactics: The email may try to create a sense of urgency by asking you to answer quickly to win a prize.
- Generic greetings: Be cautious of emails addressing you as "Dear User" or "Dear Customer" instead of your actual name.
- Suspicious links: Hover over links in the email to see if the actual URL matches the displayed text.

- UI redesign enables iPad to more resemble a MacBook, featuring windows, multiple screens, etc.
- Here's a feature I love: Spatial (parallax) view any of your photos in Camera Roll by selecting the small button at top right. It's amazing how the subject will POP out and appear 3D
- Journal app comes to iPad
- Preview (PDFs) comes to iPad
- Games app now on iPad. Note that most of the App Store games are juvenile and a total waste of time.
- Phone app now on iPad. I've yet to try it.
- What's worse with iOS 26 update: Autocorrect! The suggestions are outright ridiculous. I don't know why Apple doesn't fix this glaring problem.
